Devil May Cry 4 on PC/Xbox 360

Largest blow to PS3's exclusive third-party lineup yet?
by David Radd

Today, Capcom announced that Devil May Cry 4 is coming to the Xbox 360 and PC. The latest in the popular 3D action series was previously only announced for the PS3 and marks the first non-PlayStation console release in the series' history. Devil May Cry 4 has all the stylish action of previous games in the series with a new protagonist, Nero, who can draw enemies towards himself with his "Devil Bringer" arm.

"Capcom is committed to making its titles available to as wide an audience as possible, and has been building its technology base to meet that goal," said Mark Beaumont, executive vice president, officer and head of Capcom consumer software publishing in the Americas and Europe. "This announcement means that PS3, Xbox 360 and PC owners worldwide will be able to experience the latest installment of one of Capcom's pillar franchises."

This news is the latest demonstration of Capcom's multiplatform approach and general willingness to release games on the Xbox 360. This also marks a major blow for the PS3's exclusive third-party library, as Devil May Cry 4 joins the ranks of titles such as Virtua Fighter 5, Bladestorm, and Assassin's Creed as multiplatform bound PS3 games. No release date was given, but Devil May Cry 4 will likely be available between late 2007 and early 2008.
